Founded in 2010 in Macau SAR, the Studio has a resident team of professional designers , with a european training and a contemporary perspective of design.

The Studio has a growing list of both local and international clients , from countries such as Portugal, Belgium, France, Denmark, Australia, Vietnam or Hong Kong.

Since the beginning, the studio strives to promote an effective two-way communication with local professionals of other related areas, being able to give an accurate response to all sorts of projects.

Afonso Pessanha

Co-Founder & Managing Consultant

Main Areas: Illustration, Interior and Graphic Design

During the initial phase of the studio, Afonso assured the studio's Management, coordinated all projects and its presentation to clients. He directed and gave the first creative input in every project. He executed specific works and oversaw all the design and production of the clients' material.

As a Founding Partner, he now works in collaboration with the studio in specific projects and gives assistance in the Management process and Creative Direction.

Afonso is an Industrial & Interior Designer that is also a Design Thinking aficionado. He has studied in Portugal and Italy. After studying Graphic & Communication Design in Milan, he worked as a Graphic Designer at a growing architecture firm in Portugal. He co-founded Waaa! Studio in June 2010. He likes afro-beat, B-grade movies, traveling alone, books and boxing.

Carolina Bettencourt

Director & Designer

Main Areas: Graphic Design, Video and Web

Since May 2012, Carolina assures the studio's Management, coordinates all projects, its production and its presentation to clients. She executes and develops day-to-day projects at the studio and she coordinates the outsourcing process and all collaborations between the studio, the resident team, business partners and freelancers.

Carolina is a Multimedia Designer that works with graphics, video and the Web. She holds a Master Degree in Multimedia Communication since July 2009 and has studied in Portugal and Spain. After one year working as a freelancer, she started working at Waaa! Studio in July 2010. She also likes photography, comics, cinema, music, traveling and cheese.

Besides the creative potential, our collaborations are our biggest asset, allowing us to provide the best design solutions to our clients, through lasting partnerships and expertise sharing across related areas and sectors.

In order to overcome the hurdles of mediocrity and lack of creative solutions, Waaa! Studio works permanently alongside a professional Design Studio in Portugal, local freelancers, trainees and Business Partners.
